What is the Federal Commuter Benefit Program?
The Federal Commuter Benefit Program is supported by the City of Gainesville Regional Transit System to offer local organizations the opportunity to take advantage of the Commuter Tax Benefit.
The Commuter Tax Benefit is a tax break for employees and the employers who help them with transportation to and from work. The Federal Commuter Benefit Program will provide you with a new, stress-free choice for your daily commute. PLUS you’ll save on taxes!
Employee Options

You can purchase an RTS Pass using non-taxable
dollars
that are added to your paycheck.

Your employer can purchase the RTS Pass for you,
deducting the cost from your pre-tax wages.

How It Works
If your employer purchases the RTS Pass for you, each pay period the cost of the RTS Pass will be deducted from your paycheck, before any taxes are withheld. If you purchase the RTS Pass yourself, you’re employer will add the cost to your paycheck as non-taxable dollars.
